Good Faith Estimate
Under the federal No Surprises Act, if you’re uninsured or choosing not to use insurance, you’re entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges for your non‑emergency mental health services.
When You’ll Receive It
Within 1 business day if your session is scheduled 3–9 business days out
Within 3 business days if scheduled 10+ days in advance or upon request
Provided in writing — via email or print — before your appointment
What It Includes
Your name and date of birth
Description of the primary service (e.g., 55‑minute therapy session), with date if applicable
Itemized, estimated charges, including all reasonably expected services
Our company name, NPI, TIN, and service location(s)
Total estimated cost, valid for up to 12 months unless services change
Important Notices
It’s an estimate, not a contract. Actual charges may differ if treatment is unpredictable.
If your final bill exceeds the estimate by $400 or more, you can file a dispute through our office or the federal Patient–Provider Dispute Resolution process.
You’ll have 120 days from the billing date to initiate a dispute, and starting a dispute won’t affect your care.
Why This Matters
The GFE helps you understand costs upfront, avoid surprise billing, and gives you the tools to challenge unexpected charges under federal law.
How It Works in Practice
For new or ongoing care, we’ll provide a single GFE covering the anticipated course of treatment—up to 12 months—including frequency and estimated number of sessions. If your plan changes, we’ll issue an updated GFE at least 1 business day before the new appointment.
What You Should Do
Save your GFE (email or print).
Compare your final bill with your estimate.
If it’s more by $400+, contact us or initiate a federal dispute.
We’re happy to walk you through the process anytime.
